Trade association AITO has unveiled a new travel industry Gold Standard with the launch of its 100% Financial Protection Campaign.
The minefield surrounding consumer protection on travel was brought into sharp focus last year with the collapse of XL and several other tour operators. Many people thought that they were covered when they weren’t, and the picture remains equally confused.
Some tour operators do not offer full protection on all of their activities. Flights booked direct with airlines still remain outside the scope of the law. Heritage Group Travel are proud to have been admitted to AITO (the Association of Independent Tour Operators) which offers 100% fully financially protected holidays. This protection offered by AITO members is well in excess of legal requirements and is far superior to that offered by some travel associations, which have been diluted in recent years.
